Projects

Explore a selection of previous electrical engineering projects our team have been involved in.

Fried Potato – Batter Line Upgrade

Lead EC&l Engineer

This project is part of a major upgrade to one of the two main process lines at a large frozen goods manufacturing facility. Jacob managed and led the detailed design for the EI&C package, which included:

  • Over 140 process motor loads
  • Over 1000 instrumentation loops
  • Electrical distribution and control system

The project included hazardous area dust zones and clean design requirements. Detailed drawings, cable schedules, layouts and site integration were included as part of this detailed design.

Low Carbon – Grinding facility

Lead EC&I Engineer

The project was a new low-carbon initiative for a cement manufacturer to utilise waste blast furnace slag within their cement products. Jacob managed and led the electrical engineering, which included:

  • High Voltage (22kV) and earthing design
  • Containerised switchroom design
  • Motor Control Center (MCC)
  • Control system (~800 IO).
  • 1,500kW Low Voltage VSD and motor
  • Detailed drawing set (250+ Drawings)
  • Commissioning and construction support

Water Treatment Plant

Lead EC&I Engineer

The project was a new, mission-critical, water treatment plant facility for a municipal water services organisation. The facility included clarification, membrane, UV, carbon and chemical treatments. Jacob managed and led the detailed design for the EC&I package, which included:

  • High Voltage (11kV) and earthing
  • Swicthroom and building services
  • Redundant MCC and UPS system
  • Redundant control system (~1500 IO)
  • Detailed drawing set (600+ drawings)
  • Commissioning and construction support
  • Solar Integration

OSB Plant

Lead Electrical Engineer

This project was a new 200M£ OSB plant for a large timber wood products producer. The project utilised an existing site with an operational MDF plant, this new OSB plant was to be integrated seamlessly without impacting production.

Jacob acted as owners engineer for the main vendor package. Jacob also led the electrical design of all power distribution and vendor integration into the site. The electrical design included:

  • 11kV distribution (9x 2.5MW transformers, 5 RMUs and an 11kV switchroom)
  • 5x Switchrooms with Power Distribution Centers (PDCs), UPS, and Active Harmonic Correction systems.
  • 3x Fibre network rings servicing, corporate, vendor and balance of plant services.
  • Balance of Plant control system

Airplane Simulator Relocation

Lead Electrical Engineer

The project involved the re-location of an ATR-72 aircraft simulator to a new facility, as well as the provision of electrical systems for a future additional simulator.

Jacob provided the electrical engineering design for the new facility, which included:

  • Review of site capacity and transformer upgrade requirements.
  • Review of building services and electrical distribution being provided by the site developer
  • Swicthroom and switchboard design.

Waste Water Treatment Plant

Lead EC&I Engineer

The project is a new major wastewater treatment plant, built on the footprint of an existing facility. Jacob was engaged to deliver the electrical, instrumentation and control components of the design.

Jacob was involved in the feasibility and preliminary design phases, before handing the project over for detailed design. The electrical design for the feasibility and preliminary design phases involved:

  • High Voltage (22kV) services relocation plan
  • Site High Voltage (22kV) reticulation design
  • 2MW Solar Array feasibility study
  • Switchroom and switchboard arrangements
  • Motor starter and instrument templates
  • Control system sizing and architecture
